Palm Springs ‘Agrihood’ Wins Silver Awards from 2022 Nationals Competition

Honors for Miralon Include Masterplan Community of the Year; Final Winners Announced February, 2022

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Miralon, the sustainably designed “agrihood” community in Palm Springs, has received four “Silver” awards from The Nationals, the annual competition showcasing the best trends in New Homes Sales & Marketing. Miralon was selected by a panel of top industry experts who reviewed over 1,200 entries across the U.S.  Miralon’s wins include Masterplan Community of the Year, the highest possible recognition. Silver Award winners are the top vote recipients in each category and are the finalists for the Gold Award, which will be announced in February 2022. Miralon is developed by Freehold Communities.

In addition to Masterplan Community of the Year, Miralon received Silver Awards for:

  • Best Landscape Architecture of a Community
  • Best Community Amenity – (the new Miralon Club)
  • Best Brochure

In thanking The Nationals judges, Freehold Communities California Division President Brad Shuckhart said, “It is a genuine honor to be recognized by The Nationals, the most respected competition in our field. These awards follow Miralon’s 2021 PCBC Gold Nugget Awards recognitions, where Miralon was named Masterplan Community of the Year. Together they validate Freehold Community’s vision in transforming a defunct golf course into a thriving and sustainable community.”

The additional Silver awards for Miralon – Best Landscape of a Community, Best Community Amenity and Best Brochure – also testify to the community’s transformative vision.

Miralon is a one-of-a-kind union of resources and results that has received national attention. One of the largest new “agrihoods” in the U.S., this 309-acre Palm Springs development is the only masterplan transforming an 18-hole golf course into new community. Guidelines harmonize Miralon’s 1,150 Modernist-inspired residences with Palm Springs’ architectural heritage. Homes update this Mid-Century legacy (popular among a design-savvy target market) with comfort and indoor/outdoor connectivity.

With Palm Springs an international resort destination, elite designers have created a world-class resort amenity: Miralon Club. Highlights include: full-service bar (a masterplan rarity); outdoor and indoor demonstration kitchens; pools and cabanas; Wi-Fi café; premium-equipped fitness studio; indoor and outdoor event and social spaces with firepits; community garden; co-working spaces; conference room; and space for displaying noted Palm Springs artists.

Miralon Club is spacious: approximately 12,000 square feet of interiors is set within grounds of 9.3 acres. Walls of windows frame dramatic views of Mt. San Jacinto and Miralon’s working olive groves. Stately corridors and arcades connect the complex and link to Miralon’s network of walking trails and gardens fashioned from the former golf course. All components of Miralon Club are interactive and evolving. The kitchens, for example, host demonstrations by noted chefs working with food produced by the community gardens and olive groves.

Sharing in the honors are: Robert Hidey Architects (RHA) which also helped conceive Miralon’s progressive land plan as well as the community’s overall design guidelines; ANDERSON | architecture + interiors & MRY, designer of Miralon Club interiors: and C2 Collaborative, creator of multiple outdoor spaces and linking with Miralon’s network of trails and the entire Miralon land plan, highlighted by the transformation of the former golf course. Creating the Silver Award-winning Miralon brochure is Gunn Jerkens.
