New master planned community in Palm Springs gives back to Coachella Valley

Just in time for the holidays, Miralon Palm Springs, a sustainably designed “agrihood,” announced Nov. 28 two partnerships as part of its ongoing commitment to the local community.

The complex has partnered with Desert Arc, a nonprofit organization that provides jobs to people with intellectual and development disabilities.

“Desert Arc is an amazing organization that works tirelessly to give those with conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, epilepsy and many others the chance to contribute to our region in meaningful ways,” said Kevin Taylor, Miralon’s marketing manager. “We are thrilled to welcome Desert Arc and its clients to the Miralon team. They will be onsite three times a week providing custodial services.”

“Desert Arc’s mission is to enhance the lives and create opportunities for our clients,” said Richard Balocco, Desert Arc’s president and CEO. “We are also dedicated to social innovation and our business services, such as those we are providing to Miralon. These specialized services are examples of Desert Arc initiatives that extend our impact by providing jobs and vocational training to those we serve and ultimately (improving) the well-being of individuals and communities.”

In addition, Miralon will once again partner with the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Center in its drive to collect Christmas gifts and gift cards for children in need. Miralon has set up an area in its WiFi hub and café, The Hub, to collect unwrapped toys for underserved families.

On Dec. 16, Miralon residents and team members will be at the James O. Jessie Center to spread some joy during its annual Christmas program and toy giveaway.

“Miralon is a tight-knit community, and our residents regularly give support to causes that are near and dear to them,” Taylor said. “When they learned we’d be participating in the James O. Jessie Christmas program and toy giveaway, many of our residents volunteered immediately. It’s heartwarming to see those who live here come together for great causes.”

Developer Freehold Communities is building Miralon, one of the largest new agrihoods in the United States. The masterplan community will include 1,150 modernist-inspired residences to blend harmoniously with Palm Springs’ architectural heritage.
