Happy 250th Anniversary to Chatham County!

At Legacy we love celebrating special occasions. And what’s more special than the 250th anniversary of Chatham County?! We love this area is so many ways. That’s why Legacy at Jordan Lake calls it home too. Throughout 2021, there will be special events organized by the county to celebrate this milestone. They will focus on five key areas – Creative Arts, Community and Diversity, Growth and Change, Agriculture, and Natural Environment.

Here are some fun ways to get out and about to celebrate this special anniversary year:

PLAY OUTSIDE

Practically in your own backyard, spend the day at Jordan Lake hiking, biking, kayaking, picnicking, or just admiring the bald eagles that call this scenic and tranquil area their home. We love this idea because it’s so close to us at Legacy. Or grab your gear and enjoy kayaking or tubing down the Deep River in Sanford or pack your favorite snacks for a picnic in Gulf by historic Camelback Truss Bridge.

JOIN THE FUN

Enjoy live entertainment and culture from local talent at the Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival of Music in Dance that takes place on a 72-acre farm. Or check out Old Fashioned Farmer Day at Silk Hope Farm on Labor Day.

FEEL GOOD

Make a donation to Bynum Front Porch — an organization created in 2006 that produces family-friendly events to celebrate the community’s rich history and bright future. They say, “once you get that Bynum mud between your toes, you’ll always come back” and that is exactly what has kept the town going since the 1800’s.” Or plant a new tree to commemorate the occasion at Mellow Marsh Farm in Siler City.

SHOP IT UP

Support local businesses such as the Chatham Mills Farmers Market, Chatham Beverage District, and popular favorite Southern Supreme.
