Improve Your Lifestyle with Activity Programming at Shearwater

Did you know that a third of the people in the United States say they haven’t met their neighbors? In the age of internet browsing and Netflix, it often just feels easier to stay at home and entertain ourselves than to get out there and socialize with people in our community. But at Shearwater, people have a number of reasons to get outside of the house and interact with their neighbors.

In addition to great shared amenities like the Kayak Club and a state-of-the-art fitness lodge, our community Lifestyle Director, Dylan Read, provides a steady stream of fun activities that bring the community’s members together. Here are just a few of the many types of events you could start looking forward to if you choose to join the Shearwater community.

Activities on the Water

Many Shearwater activities are designed to take advantage of the community’s ample water features. The community includes a resort-style lagoon pool, multi-lane lap pool, three-story Perch waterslide tower, Lazy Bird River and is bordered by Trout Creek. All that water paves the way for events that incorporate swimming, kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding, as well as more creative ventures, such as family sailboat races.

Movie Nights

Movies are often more fun when you watch them with other people. The community hosts family-friendly movie nights on the Yoga Lawn and by the pool. You can enjoy a great film while also getting to know your neighbors.

Sports Groups

Shearwater is the ideal place for anyone wanting to develop healthier habits. In addition to the expansive Fitness Lodge every community member has access to, there are also a number of fitness classes you can take and groups like the Trailblazers running club you can join. If you’ve been struggling to keep up a workout routine, you’ll find lots of incentives and encouragement at Shearwater.

Community Camping

Shearwater residents don’t have to travel far to go camping. When the weather’s nice, you can enjoy community camping nights with your neighbors. Bring a tent for your family and join in the fun with ghost stories around a campfire.

Seasonal Festivals

Throughout the year, Shearwater has festivals and activities focused on celebrating the different seasons. From pumpkin decorating and a haunted tour of the local trails in the fall, to cookies with Santa and a holiday lighting competition in the winter, you can expect each season to bring with it seasonally themed activities for everyone in the community to enjoy.

Food Truck Night

Forget fast food, Food Truck Fridays regularly introduce residents to new food options from local food truck vendors. Residents can try out some new flavors while chatting with their neighbors, all without having to go more than walking distance from their homes.

People in Shearwater still have the option of staying home with their TV sets, but with so many good reasons to get out and mingle with the families that live nearby, who would want to?
