Freehold Communities has announced that Headwaters in Dripping Springs, Texas, has won the Gold award for Best Landscape Design at The Nationals, which honors the best in the building industry. Presented by the National Sales and Marketing Council (NSMC), a council of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), The Nationals honor the best of North America’s new-home sales and marketing, showcasing winners in distinguished national, regional and local publications.

Headwaters received the honor at the International Builders’ Show, February 19, 2019 at Caesars Palace Las Vegas. U.S. and international home builders, developers, consultants, and other industry professionals were in attendance for this prestigious event. Taking the Silver award in the same Best Landscape Design category was Orchard Ridge in Liberty Hill, Texas, also by Freehold Communities.

All of Freehold’s new communities express the company’s Vital Community™ approach that embraces healthy living, engagement, connectivity, stewardship and distinctive home design. And all are distinguished by extensive amenities, including nature preserves, or innovative merging of homes and open space, such as “agrihoods.”

“SINCE OPENING, OUR COMMUNITIES HAVE BEEN RECOGNIZED BY OUR PEERS WITH TOP AWARDS, AND THE NATIONALS WIN IS AMONG THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS HONORS YET FOR HEADWATERS,” SAID FREEHOLD COMMUNITIES TEXAS DIVISION PRESIDENT MATT D. MATTHEWS. “WORKING CLOSELY WITH OUR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE PARTNER, RVI, WE HAVE CREATED A TRULY UNIQUE COMMUNITY. WE ARE GRATEFUL TO OUR ENTIRE TEAM FOR MAKING THIS PROJECT POSSIBLE.”

“Even in the Texas Hill Country, it’s rare to have an opportunity to work with such an extensive natural palette. Freehold Communities’ commitment to making the required open space an amenity for the residents and the public resulted in a truly unique plan,” said Patrick Smith, Director of Landscape Architecture for RVi. “Headwaters is a community where every single home opens to and embraces the natural hill country landscape.”

Boasting 1000 unique homesites, Headwaters in Dripping Springs harmonizes unique community amenities with its beautiful natural setting. The Hub coffee bar and co-working space, for example, offers inspiring Texas Hill Country vistas. The vast open spaces and parks incorporate the structures of the original ranch building. This area includes Headwaters’ unique Star-Gazing Amphitheater – part of its Homestead Park – one of the most distinctive amenities of a masterplanned community anywhere in the United States. Perched atop a protected hilltop in the center of the community are the remnants of the original ranch home the Townes family built in the last century. It has been partially deconstructed, revealing classic stone masonry no longer seen today.

Headquartered in Boston, and founded in 2013, Freehold is currently developing eight masterplans throughout the United States, five of which opened in 2017.

All of Freehold’s eight new residential and mixed-use communities – in Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Tennessee and California – express the company’s Vital Community™ approach that embraces healthy living, engagement, connectivity, stewardship and distinctive home design. And all are distinguished by extensive amenities, including nature preserves, or innovative merging of homes and open space, such as “agrihoods.”
