When school is out and the kids are off on holiday, sometimes your home can feel like utter chaos. Shearwater residents have it a little easier with a variety of resort-style amenities right outside their door, that were specifically designed to meet the needs of the entire family. Whether you have toddlers, teens, grandkids, or just a gaggle of nieces and nephews, Shearwater has just what you need to keep them active, happy and out of your hair.
The Great Outdoors
Spending time outside has been proven to help kids be overall happier, and even perform better in school. Take a family hike along the 15 miles of trails winding through the community, and make a game of spotting native flora and fauna. Plan a tournament at the Har-Tru® tennis courts for some friendly competition with friends and neighbors while getting some fresh air. You can even pack up a picnic to enjoy at one of the pocket parks, or take the littles to the Tot Lot with Kompan play equipment to burn off some steam before bed.
Keep it Cool
After spending the afternoon exploring nature, there’s nothing more refreshing than a cool dip in the pool. If your kids are swimmers, then they’ll absolutely love Shearwater – it’s like having your very own water park! Splash and play at the resort-style lagoon pool, float along the longest lazy river in Northeast Florida or take an exhilarating spin down the three-story waterslide. There’s even a shallow, beach-entry spot for the tiniest of tikes to enjoy, and if your teens are thinking about trying out for the swim team, they can swim some laps in the multi-lane lap pool.
Making Friends
One of the things that makes Shearwater special is the sense of community and bond between neighbors. Our Lifestyle Director plans a year-round calendar of events and activities to help everyone get to know one another in a fun and inviting environment. There are even special events just for kids and teens, like outdoor movie nights, pizza parties, craft workshops and overnight camping in the grassy playfield – complete with s’mores!
