A Cross-Country Move Brings the Powells Home to Orchard Ridge

When Jessi and Adam Powell decided to move their family from Fairbanks, Alaska, to the North Austin area to be closer to family, they weren’t just looking for a new home. They were looking for a neighborhood that provided a community of friends and neighbors and plenty of activities for their young kids.

“Moving from so far away, I think what was really important was finding a small sense of community, finding a neighborhood that felt like home and felt safe,” Jessi said.

As soon as Jessi and Adam saw Orchard Ridge, they knew it was the community for their family. Moving the 4,200 miles from Fairbanks to Liberty Hill was a big adjustment for the Powells, but Jessi, Adam, their two kids and their two pugs had an easy transition, becoming part of the Orchard Ridge community right away.

The Powells have many options at Orchard Ridge when they want to get outside, and they take full advantage of all the available outdoor amenities. Jessi runs along the trails in the morning and enjoys walking through the community gardens. And the whole family loves spending time at the pool and hosting parties at the activity center.

Orchard Ridge’s prime location close to US-183 makes it easy for the Powells to attend their favorite sporting and music events in Austin. And Adam has an easy 15-minute commute to work. The community is close to all of the activities and places the family enjoys, but still far enough away that they have room to grow and wander in the Texas Hill Country. Adam said, “It’s nice to be able to come somewhere and have a little peace and tranquility.”

The Powells love their spacious, one-story home, and how it stands out from the others. They appreciate the unique, farmhouse architecture in the neighborhood and how each house is one-of-kind. “I think the thing that we like the best is [that] it’s not like every other neighborhood out there. Each house looks different. They’re different colors, they’re different styles,” Jessi said.

Orchard Ridge is a community built on healthy living and connectivity for families and the environment. From its thoughtfully planned community amenities to its open spaces and sweeping views of the surrounding nature, Orchard Ridge is a great place to call home. “It … checks off all the things we wanted in a neighborhood,” Adam said.

Orchard Ridge, a healthy-living community with new homes in Liberty Hill, embraces the Texas Hill Country and offers respite from the city with built in details like the community gardens.
