Beat the Summer Heat at Shearwater

Summer is one of the most exciting times of the year, filled with adventure and new things to discover. Living in the sunshine state, every day can feel like a vacation – but that summer sun can also make staying indoors a lot more appealing. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to stay cool while still having a blast this summer, at Shearwater and beyond.

Shearwater’s pool is far from ordinary – it’s like having a waterpark in your own backyard! The resort-style lagoon pool is perfect for splashing and playing, with comfortable lounge areas nearby so you can keep an eye on the kids and read a good book. There’s even a shallow, beach-style entry so the smallest residents can still keep cool and enjoy the pool.

But that’s not all! Hop in the Lazy Bird River – the longest lazy river in Northeast Florida – and enjoy a relaxing float through lush landscaping. Or if you’re looking for something more exciting, you can take an exhilarating spin down the three-story waterslide.

If it’s a little too warm to enjoy a morning jog along the 15 miles of trails, you can still get in your daily exercise while staying cool. Move your workout to the Fitness Lodge, where you can enjoy the air conditioning and take advantage of all of the state-of-the-art equipment. There’s even Wellbeats™ virtual fitness classes available on demand, so you can mix it up with some yoga, Zumba®, kickboxing and more.

Plus, there are even more ways to beat the heat just a short drive from the community! Summer in Florida wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the beach, and there’s plenty of options nearby. Or, if you have a swashbuckling enthusiast in the family, head over to the Pirate and Treasure Museum to go on a treasure hunt and learn about the history of pirates. The MOSH is another great option – kids can learn about science and history through hands-on exhibits. Or if you’re looking for a whole day of fun, try out Adventure Landing, with a million-gallon wave pool and water slides, plus go-karts, mini golf, laser tag and more!

Located in St. Augustine, Shearwater is a new home community that features vacation-style amenities, plus a location that offers easy access to entertainment, shopping, St. Johns County School District and employment hubs.
